After
years of working in mixed media and assemblage, Ines Kramer has
returned to the pure "small pleasures" of paint and surface,
exploring the play of color, light, texture and movement, borrowing
the simplified forms from her own organic sculptures. Kramer says:
This
series of paintings serves as an invitation to recall physical
experience, as an evocation of sense memories.
Kramer
was born in Caracas, Venezuala and moved to the United States
as a child. She studied art at Parsons School of Design and the
Art Students' League. In 1989 she moved to California and completed
her studies at San Francisco State University. She began exhibiting
nationally in 1992. She has exhibited as a member of The Beauty
Project, and has developed and taught a workshop on art and memory
called "Altars, Shrines and Reliquaries." n
