Artist Statement

In my recent work, I explore both the ephemeral and enduring qualities of nature. Patterns and textures fascinate me; as I work, I add and scrape away layers of paint and encaustic in a process that both reveals and obscures. I enjoy a sense of discovery and surprise as my paintings progress. I also seek to capture a sense of the passage of time and often use old found papers and relics collected in my travels.
